The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned the horrific massacre carried out in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, which claimed the lives of over 160 innocent Nigerians.

According to report, the attack, which occurred between February 3 and 4, 2026, involved armed assailants who targeted defenseless civilians, destroyed homes, abducted residents, and left entire communities traumatized and displaced.

Expressing deep sorrow and concern over the tragedy, the Nigerian leader, President Bola Tinubu, described the incident as a direct assault on the Nation’s peace, unity, and humanity, ordering an immediate and reinforced military deployment to the affected areas to ensure the restoration of law and order.

As part of decisive actions taken, the Federal Government has activated Operation Savanna Shield, a comprehensive security initiative involving the Nigerian Army, intelligence services, and other security agencies.

The President further directed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the attack, emphasizing that no individual or group responsible will escape accountability. He equally extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and assures survivors of full government support, including humanitarian assistance, medical aid, and reconstruction efforts.

Meanwhile, Citizens are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security operations, while authorities continue efforts to prevent further violence and restore lasting peace.
