The Kano State Government, under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has raised the alarm over the recent resurgence of commercial motorcycle operations, commonly called Achaba, despite the ban that has been in place for years.
Reports from within the metropolis and surrounding communities show that these operators are increasing in number, with some unknown individuals taking advantage of the gaps in enforcement. The Government has made it clear: the safety of Kano residents is a top priority. Security agencies across all 44 Local Government Areas have been mobilized, and the State is providing full support to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
The Government is also reviewing public suggestions, including tighter monitoring at entry and exit points, as part of a broader strategy to secure the state. Citizens are encouraged to stay alert, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with security agencies to keep their communities safe.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assures residents that his administration remains committed to working hand-in-hand with local leaders, traditional institutions, and community groups to maintain peace and stability in Kano.
With the government stepping up its efforts, how can citizens play a more active role in helping Kano stay safe from illegal Achaba operations?
