International Women’s Day 2026: Celebrating Women Driving Leadership, Justice, and Opportunity Across the World

Like Fatima Muritala, (Ph.D Candidate) once said, giving a woman her right could mean “allowing her to dream and supporting her in every way that turns that dream into success.”

When women are given the space to dream, they build futures.

Today, as we celebrate powerful women around us and across the globe making a positive impact, we are reminded that their voices have become a foundation that supports the future and inspires hope for another girl-child and women globally.

Across the world, women continue to lead with courage, purpose, and action. Many look up to women like Magalie who dare to drive Africa’s transformation.

Across sectors and continents, women are turning purpose into action.

From a small town in Australia to impacting communities in Ghana and Dominica, Frances Helena is advancing inclusivity, sustainability, and economic empowerment through Beautifully Diverse Fashion.

Mary Kurek champions ethical leadership and economic empowerment, strengthening systems that protect women and expand access to education through her work across Africa, the United States, and with Advancing Girls Education (AGE) Africa.

Through WeCan Africa Development and Empowerment Initiative, Sadiya Murtala DPro equips youth and women with skills, leadership training, and career opportunities, impacting over 5,000 lives across communities.

Amb. Maryam Hassan promotes safer communities through advocacy and prevention as Executive Director of the League for Societal Protection Against Drug Abuse (LESPADA) and an ambassador of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Entrepreneur SARANYA ARUN is creating opportunities for women globally as Co-Founder of Team Alpha while supporting underserved communities through initiatives like Wells of Hope.

Scholars and leaders also play a vital role. Prof. Rabia Sa’id, FNIP, FCP continues to contribute through academic leadership that advances inclusive development and gender equity.

Different journeys. One shared mission: advancing opportunity, justice, and leadership for women and girls.

As we mark International Women’s Day 2026 with the theme “Rights. Justice. Action – For ALL Women and Girls,” the call remains clear: protect women’s rights, strengthen fair systems, and take meaningful action so that no woman or girl is left behind.

Happy International Women’s Day to every woman around the world.
