Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Nigerian presidential election, reaffirming his commitment to offering purposeful and people centred leadership to Nigerians.
Speaking during a recent public engagement, Obi stated clearly that he intends to run as a presidential candidate, dismissing speculations that he may seek a vice presidential position in the forthcoming election cycle.
According to him, Nigeria requires decisive leadership anchored on competence, accountability, and a renewed focus on human capital development, economic productivity, and good governance.
Obi who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party, has since aligned with a broader opposition movement aimed at strengthening democratic alternatives ahead of 2027.
Obi reiterated his dedication to peaceful democratic participation and urged Nigerians, especially young people, to remain engaged in shaping the country’s future through informed civic action.
